L O N E R - Bloom & Self Titled EP

Band / Artist: L O N E R
Year: 2016, 2017
Genre: Trip Hop, Trap, Chillout

My Review:
SO CHILL. Its titled on the soundcloud stream as "Sad as Fuck Hip Hop". I love the feel it has, of former triphop singer, an acoustic edge, and this lightly witchcrafty feel to it. You need to hear this one. Apparently its a musician named DMT, and a singer named Kelly Anne Corfield. I don't know much else, since i saved this ages ago and forgot to post a review on it.

Also because its worth hearing as well, here is a more rough album that has a really great sound to it as well, if maybe a little more rough around the edges. I might even like this one a hair more potentially. If they evolve this well over a 1 year run, I'm excited to hear how much farther they are going to go.

Blind MIC - Codeine Bluez

Band / Artist: Blind MIC
Year: 2017
Genre: Hip-Hop, Trap, Trip Hop, Chillstep

My Review:
This music is actually really calming to me, but it feels like some kind of "we're gonna die so whatever here comes the grave". So yeah, I feel oddly conflicted about this album but I do like it enough that I've played it repeatedly.

I would love to say more, but I've been working myself to death this week, too tired. Good trip-hop/trap thing with a UK feel and drug and drinking references. Y'all have a good one.

-{:(.SINGLES.):}- Pete Lund, Banks, Wood Holly, kNIFE

Here's a nice lump of singles since it's been so long. I'm gonna have to get more of these out there.

Banks - Warm water (Deignated flip)
listen to that old 90s sampling! A pretty female voice, over a nice calm dancey track.

Pete Lund - Gypsy Cab
Indie, Rock, Alt Punk. It's 2 tracks, and its good punk.

Wood Holly - Sorry 4 the Wait Too
Trap, Bass, House. An odd, downtempo version of chopped & screwed remixes. 3 tracks.
Neat stuff. Its like Trip-hoppy Trap, Heh, Trip-Trap.

kNIFE - DieNasty
Rap. It's mean, with some nice beats running back behind it. I like those beats against that style of vocals.

Mishka - Surf & Turf

Band / Artist: Various Artists
Year: 2014
Genre: Hip-Hop Beats, Trap, Dubstep, Chillstep, Trip Hop, Chillout

My Review:
Miska can be really hit or miss for me. This time around, I'm pretty happy with what they offered to the world. It's a great mix. Mishka is a New York fashion/anti-fashion label, that supports some really varied sets of music. This is their self description;
A New York City fixture since 2003, Мишка (“Mishka,” or “bear cub” in Russian) clawed their own path through the often homogenous streetwear world, beginning humbly as a small t-shirt upstart and maturing into a full blown cut & sew powerhouse.
Find them here.

Surf & Turf are hiphop/trap/dubstep/triphop blends that work really well as the music for your chill tent at a party, or as something to play in the background during that fancy soiree that you put on, so you can prove that you're hip, and know a lot of cool underground shit out of new york. That sounds like a total jerk description, but I've been driving around listening to these, and its really a good set mixes.

Bro Safari & UFO! - Animal LP

Band / Artist: Bro Safari & UFO!
Year: 2014
Genre: Trap, Electro, Brostep

My Review:
BRO SAFARIIIIIII! I like this guys stuff. Every time I bump into his weird mix of electro/trap/whatever I end up enjoying myself. This time is no different.

So…
Here it is. The album that we've been talking about for over a year. Scheduling conflicts be damned, we made it happen! Yes, the process was long, and at times it was even a little grueling, but we stuck to our guns and we couldn't be happier with the results.
Originally, we created about 16 tracks for the album, and then we narrowed it down to the songs that you have in front of you today. It was important to us that we create a collection of music that crossed multiple styles and genres, yet told a coherent story. It's not an easy thing to do, but we feel like we pulled it off by using themes, samples, techniques and by consciously assessing what did and did not work together.
We feel like there is something for everyone on this record and we're very pleased with the fact that we can offer this to everyone for free. All we ask is that you listen to it with an open mind, share it with your friends and come say hello whenever we play a show in your city.
So, once again - Thank you to each and every person that showed us support over the last few years. We love working together, and have already discussed plans for a follow up album.
For now, enjoy ANIMAL!

Free Singles - Danny Brown Vs K.Flay, Jimmie Lunceford Orchestra, Goldroom, Voicians, Bro Safari

K.Flay & Danny Brown - Party All The Time

Another track from K.Flay. Good, chill, hiphop with a sound that I enjoy. Not a lot else to say, it starts a little weird, and then gets really good about halfway in. I'm not sure what else to say. If you like K.Flay, then you'll enjoy this. If you don't know who that is, then you need to do a search of the archives.

Jimmie Lunceford Orchestra - Frisco Fog

Jimmie Lunceford and his Orchestra perform "'Frisco Fog", a futuristic "Descriptive Instrumental" dating from November 5, 1937. From the original 78rpm disk.
This one is neat. Its futuristic jazz,.. from the Thirties. There is a really pleasant improvisation in it, with a sound that I can only describe as oddly wonderful or wonderfully odd. There is a great feel in the winding rhythm of its Big Band orchestra. This one is in the public domian, obviously, because Mr. Lunceford died (of what may have been a poisoning) in 1947. He's buried in Elmwood Cemetery in Memphis, TN. He also has a brass note dedicated to him on Beale St.

Goldroom - Solé Fixtape Vol. 7

Solé likes to get people interested in music. It may be a marketing ploy, but that is completely fine with me. A mixtape is wonderful.
A Bike-Style Company. Join the family at: www.solebicycles.com
THEY SELL FIXED SPEEDS, SO ITS CALLED A FIXTAPE. GET IT? IT'S A PUN. Anyway, Goldroom is a fun DJ. This is a pretty chill dancey mixtape, something that people who are really into the Drive soundtrack would love. You have to "like" their stuff on facebook to get access to all of the fixtapes, but its worth it. If you just cant be bothered though, then you should go here.

Voicians - Ultimate Riot
This has a definite "Prodigy" sound, mixed with just a bit of electro, and a bit of celldweller-style industrial rock on top of it. Its really driving dance song. Maybe a little bit "The Matrix 2010", but thats my kind of dance music.

Dan Voicians is from Stuttgart Germany, a city that I spent a night in with some strangers who were kind enough to transport me from a very rape-space-y train station an hour away that I got left at. I wish I still had their email addresses. I digress. This guy is young, and he has some talent. Here's his facebook. You should look for more of his stuff there.

Bro Safari - That A$$

Its Miami Bass. Its Trap. Its Bounce. It's from a Drum & Bass veteran named Knick. It's got a hilarious cover shot.. Its how I'm ending this singles post.

If anyone has some cool ones they've found, they should definitely share them in the comments. Otherwise, you all have a good weekend.
