Fed. - 902BassDrum

Band / Artist: Fed.
Year: 2015
Genre: Jungle, Breakcore, Drum and Bass

My Review:
Some days, jungle is just a good way to start out the day. Today, that is the case for me. Plus the art has a kitty.

I've heard a few things from Fed. in the past. Best I can remember, this is my favorite. Its much more wild and jazzy, which is really getting me going. It rolls into hiphop or anthem house or reggae, then wildly dissects it, then pulls back to lounge jazz, only to fuse both into the next wave of crazy breakcore wildness.

If this is your jam, here is a long list of other works by the artist (Igor Fedshin)
[SRmp3 247] Fed. - Hold your gun Babylon
[SRmp3 205] Fed. - Lion Conversion
[SRmp3 180] Fed. - Mashup Business
[SRmp3 167] Fed. - Fedish Animal
[SRmp3 119] Fed. - Noise, Hash and Meat
[SRmp3 091] Fed. v.s. Annoying Ringtone - Baking
[SRmp3 064] Fed. - Everybody Sucks
Alright, well I'm gonna let this one out into the world now. Enjoy.

And. - Dans

Band / Artist: And.
Year: 2013
Genre: Chiptune, Breakcore, Jungle

My Review:
This one is super catchy chiptuney breakcore. The tracks all seemed to have been started out as full chiptune compositions and then warped and layered with breaks and glitchy drum tracks.

And. is a musician out of the UK.he has a myspace here.

It's a good middle Ground between what Ralp and Psilodump have made that I've shared here, being very game-ish and jungle. If you like dancey gamey breakcore, then I can't see you disliking it. I've missed sharing a lot of weird lately.

Bitbasic - Meek

Band / Artist: Bitbasic
Year: 2012
Genre: Nu Breaks, IDM, Glitch, Electronica, Jungle, Breakbeat, Future Garage

My Review:
Name; Simon Haycock. Location; London. Skill; Electronica?

This is a gem in the IDM, , whatever-you-say kind of electronica world. I've referenced the album "Family Glue" by Global Goon before, and this is an album that feels like it is on par with that same bubbly, playful, groovy feel. Some moments have that kind of skill that Beck was notorious for, taking bunches of noise, and making it into something completely different.

Its one part of Jazz and Funk, shaken over frozen Jungle, and then poured in a Glitch glass with some fresh IDM squeezed over the top... I need better analogies.

Here is his fabecook. He posts regularly from it.

Here is his twitter filled with tweets. https://twitter.com/Bitbasic

Here is the guy that was kind enough to do the cover art.

Welp. I could gab your ear off all day about how much I've been annoying friends with this cd on repeat, but I'll just let you go listen for yourself.

The Queenstons - Figurehead Remastered

Band / Artist: The Queenstons
Year: 2011
Genre: Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Electronica, Breakbeat, Jungle

My Review:
Ok, so the label is called Lapfox, or Lapfox Trax. And I guess its one guy (Renard Queenston) doing many different styles under different aliases? I don't really know. I couldn't give two shits though, because its some really decent music. He even made a little promo video for it coming out.

The first version of this album came out a few years ago, a drum & bass anthem album for the most part. Some very game-y sounding moments here and there. The Original was not available for free, but the remastered version, which sounds more clean and full, is. This has a pretty huge number of additional tracks, and it really pleased me to find it.

Fairly tuned voices, sound like they were recording on shitty mics but they did a very good job of masking it and presenting something that comes together as solid as a marble. A pretty professional sounding album that makes for a great listen,  especially if you like Dieselboy, BT, and AK1200, or Paul Oakenfold and DJ Keoki vocals. It feels like stepping back toward 2004 and getting a nostalgic look. There are definitely dubsteppy moments here and there, but they don't undermine the strength of this album overall.

I'd rank this at a rate high enough that it may be in my top 10 DnB albums now (yes I really do have more than that many, I really love techno). So give this a chance, and expect to see me sharing more from Lapfox in the future.

Icky Sticky - Fractals

Band / Artist: Icky Sticky
Year: 2012
Genre: Jungle, Drum & Bass, Electro, Dubtronics

My Review:
An album of somewhat atypical jungle coming from a gentleman in the UK. Here's his myspace page.

He is a crew member of the Amen-tal label. They specialize in Breakcore, Drum & Bass, and other types of fast electronica. Here's their site to explore if you'd like.

I wish there was a little more to say about the guy, but I couldn't find much else. So here's what I have to say about the album itself. It reminds me of Luke Vibert (especially as Plug), or Source Direct. There could have been a little more to it here or there, but I ended up listening to it a few times in a row because of its sound. There are ethereal, dubby, jazzy, and sometimes droney soundscapes layered into jungle beats of varying complexity and depth, sometimes bending into Amen Breaks and Breakcore flares. The tracks can be pretty long, and sometimes offer very slowly changing sounds, which can leave you wanting, depending on how your tastes for techno are.

Hope you enjoy it.
